The Grove is an urban, chic restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Houston. The dining area boasts beautiful views of Houston’s urban park, Discovery Green. It is in walking distance from prime hotels (like the Four Seasons), shopping and the convention center. The Grove’s rooftop doubles as a garden, growing some of the herbs and produce used in the daily meal preparation. Let them take it a step further. The greenery on the rooftop also helps absorb some of the heat from this lovely Texas sun which helps make this building an LEED Certified Green building. That’s pretty cool (pun semi-intended).
on my plate: Skewered Texas Quail with bacon, queso fresco and red fresno chile, a caesar salad with parmesan and brioche croutons, and the Wood Grilled Filet of Salmon with sautéed kale, marinated cauliflower, shaved fennel, watercress and a white anchovy vinaigrette.
FOUR PRONG FORK REVIEW:
Service: Great. The staff is courteous and welcoming | Reservations: Recommended | Parking: Valet or street parking | Price: $$
– GOOD TO KNOW –
The Grove is in a prime location, as we mentioned above. If the weather permits (and if the humidity in Houston doesn’t suffocate you) try going for a walk at Discovery Green after your meal. There are always festivals, art exhibits and activities going on throughout the park. Ask for a table against the window at The Grove. The view from your seat will be calming and picturesque. We recommend you valet. Street parking is usually not easy to find and the walk from the car to the restaurant may result in a few sweat puddles.
