Franklin, TN is a charming, southern town located about 20 miles south of Nashville. It has the perfect combination of local art and design shops, a small theatre and (of course) good food! Really, really good food! One place you cannot miss is 55 south. Their website says it all, eat55. And we all should! The restaurants name refers to the interstate that connects Memphis and New Orleans. Chef Jason McConnell does a stellar job of bringing the local foods that one would find traveling down 55 South straight to your table in Franklin, TN. The interior boasts reclaimed materials and weathered wood. The food is welcoming and so are the people. It truly is a must see… (we mean “eat”) when you are in town.
on my plate: Tuna Nachos – Spiced seared tuna over flour tortilla strips, avocado, pico de gallo, and ancho aioli | Dirty Bird – BBQ chicken breast, fried egg, cole slaw, secret sauce on texas toast | Fish Tacos – Grilled, fried, or blackened mahi mahi topped with cole slaw, pico de gallo, cilantro avocado cream, served with poblano rice (Don’t judge! I shared!)
FOUR PRONG FORK REVIEW:
Service: Great! The waiter was quick and efficient and knowledgeable. | Reservations: I believe they are quite necessary in order to get a table. This place is popular and well-known for being a hot spot. | Parking: We parked a few blocks away and walked through the historic downtown before arriving at the restaurant. It is worth it to take a stroll before or after your meal | Price: $$
– GOOD TO KNOW –
From what we heard, this place is THE place to dine at in Franklin. If you are in the area, definitely stop by and check it out. They have a really cool bar scene with a great bar selection. I don’t drink alcohol so I didn’t try any, but their chalkboard display of local booze was quite impressive.
